I'm getting comcast internet in a few days, The modem they supply me with is a rental which I have to pay a monthly fee, Can I use my own modem and avoid paying those extra fees?

When I was Comcast High Speed Internet you sure could. They used the Motorola Surfboard modem, but I think they have switched. Call back the support line, or sales, and ask what modem you need, they should have full details. Buying your own modem used to get you a discount as you weren't paying the modem rental monthly. BE CAREFUL where you buy! We used to have to 'bust' a lot of people buying stolen modems off of auction sites. Go to an actual retail store if you do buy.
