Patrick Elias.
My reasoning is that playoffs are what really matters.
For his career, Patrick Elias has scored 0.85 pts/game in the post season. Last year he scored 16 pts in 9 games (in the same year he was recovering from Hepatitis-A!!!). Elias plays for the defensively minded New Jersey Devils... therefore, harder to get points.
Alfredsson's career playoff average is 0.73 pts/game. Last year he scored 10 points in 10 games, while playing for one of the NHL's offensive powers (he was in a line with Heatley and Spezza).
Elias has won the Cup several times. Alfredsson never has. Enough said.

I'm saying Elias. Its real close. Alfreddson has always played with some great players, even when Ottawa was terrible he played with Yashin (who then was actually producing... somewhat). The NJ Devils system is defensive based, and this hasn't allowed Elias to produce with the top scorers in the league. He is much better defensively that Alffy, and can also do many of the same things offensively.

Alfredsson since 97 has gotten better and better each year but he also got more top players to play with and the Sens are an offencive team compare to the Devils which is defence first then offence. this is Alfredsson playoff stats and he only has 3 goals in his last 17 playoff games and those are terrible stats for the playoffs 79gp 29g 29a 58pts. and if i was the Sens GM I would of gotten rid of Alfredsson and I would of kept Chara with that money cause Alfredsson is NO good in the playoffs it doesn't matter what you did in the regular season its the playoffs that count the most.
Elias yes he has less points then Alfredsson but he also played 100 games less the Alfy, and also played more of a defencive game the Alfy cause in NJ its defence first then offence. Patrick Elias has been great in the playoffs he scored 16 points in 9 games last years playoffs and had 6 goals and his career stats in the playoffs make Alfredsson look bad 111gp 34g 60a 94pts. so if I had to pick out of this two players i would pick Patrick Elias cause he will help on defence and he can still rack up the points when it counts most yes the playoffs.
and i understand if you give the 10pts to someone that picked Alfredsson cause you are probably a Sens fan, but you know its true that Alfy is terrible in the playoffs and thats what counts the most is your performance in the playoffs, not what he did in the regualr season. Elias is more valuable then Alfy when it counts the most in the playoffs.

I like them both, but Elias is a little more durable over a full season. I think Elias, at this point, has more left in the tank until his career ends than Alfredsson.
I choose Elias.
