When they are never going to win it. Especially the war against meth. They are spending so much money trying to catch all these people that are still going to do drugs anyway, and they could put at least some of the money towards healthcare or education. What do you think?

Government money into drug control must be properly used to stop the proliferation of drug addiction. Instead, divert some of the funds to healthcare of education because people needs this pulbic services badly.

Surely, you've heard the phrase "I did it because I was told not to." Just about everyone that does something illegal, or goes against what someone said, they did it because they were told they can't do it. The government seizes the drugs and half of them smoke it, inject it, snort if, or do whatever else with them to get high, and the other half sell it again. If you really think about it, how do all those cops know where that 500 lbs of pot was going to be at, or that $500,000 meth lab was at? They know where the stuff is, because they put it there! The gov wants to seem like the good guys, when in reality, they're not.
The ingredients for meth are so easy to come by. It's what, allergy meds, bleach, aluminum foil, a lighter, and some other household stuff, right?(never touched it, and never will!! I've seen what it does to your body, and your teeth!!) Well, I live in Bradley co, in Tenn. And they consider this county to have the highest meth lab busts in the state! A "friend" of mine smoked it, and her bofriend smoked it, and just about all of his friends were druggies. And yet, not once did they ever fail a drug test, or get arrested for having, or producing, or whatever. I think that most of the cops in my city are crooked, just like most of the gov, and they cut them a deal. They give the cops some, and the cops look the other way. The gov doesn't really care about the people, they only care about money. Without money, there wouldn't be a government. If they focused on healthcare, there wouldn't be as many sick people, and hospitals and doctors could go out of business, and if they focused on education, then the children would grow up to realize how stupid the government reall is!

You would rather they give up & let the drug dealers take over the country?
How much crime do you think is perpetuated by people wanting money for drugs?
Having treatment programs or education doesn't stop the addiction. People who are on drugs, especially Meth, usually won't go to treatment or respond to education.
The only thing important to them is their next dose, no matter what they have to do to get it.
If they can take drugs & drug dealers off the street, maybe less people get addicted.
An ounce of prevention is worth a million dollars worth of cure.

Like many drug questions here, most of the answers are completely ignorant. Don't accept answers from anyone who can't provide references. Most of these people couldn't begin to pass a basic quiz on the subject.

The basic reasons are ignorance, bigotry, and the fact that the war on some drugs has become big business.

If you want to understand the full story, read the following:

The short history of the marijuana laws at http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/History/whiteb1.htm It is funny and fascinating.

The Consumers Union Report on Licit and Illicit Drugs at http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/Library/studies/cu/cumenu.htm This is probably the best review of the subject ever written.

The Drug Hang-Up at http://druglibrary.org/special/king/dhu/dhumenu.htm

These are some of the definitive works on the subject.

Do you actually believe they are? They may make it seem that way but I don't think so. Have you ever thought about how so many drugs and so much is getting into the country? That many people can't be driving and getting them and they surely can't be bringing it by planes. I think the gov.wants it here. It helps kill some of the people, keeps the world from being way over populated and makes it seem as if they are doing something about them. I believe they are the corporates in some way. If they are not helping the drugs get here, then they are definitely not trying to stop them from coming here.If they were, and wanted to do so-they could.

Because the US govt is making money in the drug trade. Just like the Queen of England and the opium trade .Most of the DEA is on the take. It generates black money for pet project deals ( Iran Contra). Otherwise its a rediculous waste of money and time
Merry Christmas world

Because they think that using a heavy hand will solve the problem. It's a social problem and social problems can't be solved by throwing money at them.
