Bittorent is unique in the way it works compared to other P2P programs like Limewire, Napster, Kazaa. Instead of downloading a program and search for a file and download, with bittorent, you download a program, go to a web site, click a link, then it loads into Bittorent. Basically, Bittorent is a download manager. The benefit is the selection is better and you can download entire albums instead of looking for individual mp3s.

I recommend downloading uTorrent. Once you download it, then visit a site like Acetorrent or TorrentReactor or TorrentSpy. When you find something you like, you click on a link. You download a file and load it into uTorrent. When the file is done downloading, then the files will automatically appear in the configured directory.

You first need a bittorent client such as utorrent or bitlord. Second, you need to go to a bittorrent website (I'll let you find that) to search for torrents to download. Next, search and find the file you want to download, and download the torrent. Your bittorrent client should automatically recognize it is a torrent and begin downloading the file. Remember to only download legal files!

simple. you find a site that is dedicated to torrent downloads and click the download button. your torrent client (in your case, bittorrent) will open automatically.

i personally recommend azureus over bittorrent. its a bit more user friendly.

That's my answer to a similar question. I did the guide for game torrents, but it's applicable to everything, not just games.
