These are the 2003/2003 Income figueres taken from the Census Bureau itself.

Quintile=20%
in other terms, the top 20% of the population made 49.63% of the income in america in 2002, and 49.79% in 2003.
The lowest quintile of america (the bottom 20%) mde only 3.43% of the money in america in 2002, and 3.37% in 2003.

So the ratio between the highest income and lowest income in america is 14.4:1 (49.63/3.43). Every dollar the bottom quintile makes, the top quintile will make 15.

ratio is 100:0 All Americans are rich. Even those who dont work get welfare of over 2000 rupees per week. That is the same as the pay of a senior executive in Indian company.

The U.S. Department of the Census keeps a lot of these statistics. You need to decide, though, how you define rich or poor.
