I am planning to Visit orlando and would like to go to Magic Kingdom and Universal Studios. I am undecided on which other park should I go. I would like to dedicate one more day for the theme parks. Can anybody please provide comparsion between Universal Island of Adventures and Disney's MGM so that I can decide between the two.

Thanks

ok heres the break down:

Disney MGM - this park had several rides but many different exhibits and shows. The main rides they have include a roller coaster, a free fall(though its really much more then just going up then down), a motion ride, a slow moving but fun ride about movies etc. This park isn't so much ride based but theres plenty of activities and shows to see all about movies. There is the little mirmaid, muppet vision 3D, the new car stunt show, Fantasmic(an end of the day show with some fireworks) etc. There is also a backstage tour. As a Disney park, it clearly has the Disney feeling and is a great park if you want the Disney experience. But, Disney MGM studios, although not at all the same as Universal studios, has the similar theme of movies. You may want to take this into consideration when deciding.

Islands of Adventure on the other hand is more ride based. THis park reminds me more of an "amusment park" themed with Universal Studio movies and shows. But believe me, its a lot more fun then your average six flags. There are several roller coasters (one with a HULK theme), there is an awesome 3D ride with a spiderman theme, theres about 3 different water type rides with themes of jurrassic park and such, a free fall tower (this free fall is more of your standard free fall), and theres also a few children-geared rides with themes such as the cat in the hat. There are shows as well and some exhibits on dinosaurs and such. Though this park doesn't have the Disney feel too it, if you like lots of rides this may be more your thing and it may spice up your choices of parks to go too. (since the other two you have choosen, while great, don't have many huge rides - they each have 1 or 2 really fast rides like roller coasters).

I really hope this helps - I'm not sure which i'd choose personally. I love Disney World but I am also a fan of Universal as well. Last time I was in orlando I skipped MGM and I went to both Universal parks and we had a great time... but then again I've also been to MGM 20 or so other times in my life time.

If you need any clarification or have any more questions contact me through yahoo answers. Also, while at universal studios check out the mummy ride- it is great.

I was there a month ago ... it all depends on your personal likes. If you want rides and actually doing things, go to Island. All I liked about MGM was Tower of Terror and Rock and Roller Coaster....which is awesome, but that's it. I saw 2 shows there and got really bored. It doesn't compare with Spiderman's 3D adventure on Islands. Also, The Hulk roller coaster can be compared with Rock and Roller coaster, only Hulk's not indoors. Doctor Doom's Freefall is taller than Tower of Terror and is out on the open, you can see everything all the time.

In my opinion, MGM is kind of outdated and the effects on the shows are not the best. You'll get more adventure and fun in Island of Adventure.....Don't forget the Dueling Dragons!!!!

I still say stick with Disney. MGM might not have all the thrill rides, but its Disney and personally I dont think any park beats Disney.

Try going to the Disney website and the one for the Island of Adventures. Compare what you like about each park and which would be more suiting to your liking.

Depends on the age of the person, if you really like rollar coasters or just a movie/cartoon freak?
Universal Island of Adventures is all about rollar coaster ride heaven. If you love that then go there.
Disney MGM is unbelievable and I wouldn't want to miss it.
There is nothing like the experience of disney.
I would also suggest SeaWorld, I love SeaWorld. The dinner with Shamu and the show was awesome.
have fun!

i like islands of adventure better. islands of adventure has 2 great roller coasters hulk and dueling dragons -- spider man is in my opinion the best ride in orlando. dr suess land is really cute. jurassic park is kind of lame.

mgm has the rockin roller coaster which isn't that great in my opionion. the tower of terror is overrated too. i like the muppets and the fantasmic show and that is about it.

it really depends on what you like -- rides/shows etc. islands of adventure has nothing but rides and a really bad neptune water show.
