Can they be used and get as good service as Cingular or the other servers? What do you pay per minute? Can you get information? Anything else I should know?

mm prepaid phones..depends on the company you want to go for..cingular is available, but it's kind of expensive and so is verizon...depends on the amount of minutes you use per months..(both companies charge .99 per day) ... you might try t-mobile which charges you .13 cents per minute...or less (depends on the card that you get) those are the 3 most popular choices, you can always go for boost mobile if you know people that use the sharp (walkie-talkie) or virgin mobile, but in my opinnion it's way easier to go with t-mobile...

My mom has a TracFone and she loves it. She's not much of a cell phone person, so she only really uses it for emergencies. The service is EXCELLENT.

My first cell phone was a prepay and it was great. I had Verizon. I found that prepay phones have better reception than most other cell phones!

One negative about it was that I used it a lot and we were having to buy minutes a lot. So it's definitely not something you want to spend hours on. I'm not sure how the Cingular GO Phone is, though.

Good luck!

That depends on the provider. Virgin Mobile cost twenty five cent for the first few minutes and ten cent for each additional minute. You usually have to add additional minutes every three months, even if you have not used all your minutes, but the unused minutes are carried over for usage.
If you do not make many phone calls from cell phones, prepaid is a good way to go, because you will have paid in advance of using those minutes, but, if you make many calls, it would probably not benefit you.

You will pay 10 cents a min. Where a monthly plan will be about 7cents a min. On top of that some features are not assessable with prepaid like unlimited txt pix flix pkgs as well as navigation. You might as well bite the bullet and pay the security deposit and save your self some money. Verizon will refund the deposit and interest after the first year. Good luck
