Since you are more attractive than her, especially when you are dressed up for your model work, she is jealous, so she has tried to turn Mom against you because that's all she has, she wrongly thinks. Mom is probably a little jealous of you too. I know that's sick, but it happens.

Jealousy, although common, is a character flaw. Particularly these days when beauty equals power, sisters can get jealous and catty of their more attractive sisters. It is wrong. It does not demonstrate true love. If you sister loved you, she would be PROUD of your beauty, not go behind your back and try to undermine you in other ways (such as with your mother/daughter relationship). If she loved you, she would BRAG on you about your beauty and "beat up" anybody who said you weren't beautiful! If sisters truly love each other, there should be no jealousy. Jealousy is an emotion of basic fear. But true love casts out fear, the Bible says. You may love HER, but she won't receive it because she's too busy being jealous of you. That is very sad for you, but not your fault.

Maybe she can be a model too, let's see her try, instead of trying to bring YOU down. Let her prove it. But I'm afraid she gets more pleasure out of trying to put you down, than doing anything to reach her own goals.

She is too self-centered about herself to be loving toward you. Since you are more attractive, she probably tries to claim that YOU are self-centered, since that is an easy label to put on an attractive woman in this world. But in fact SHE is being self-centered by thinking your beauty takes anything away from her. She is also being selfish (AND EVIL) in trying to disrupt your relationship with your Mom. You have not tried to undermine HER, you have only been your beautiful self. What are you supposed to do, dress up like Ugly Betty for her?

She has probably found a thread of commonality between her insecurities and your Mom's own womanly insecurities, and is trying to use that "angle" to put a wedge between you and your Mom. Your Mom should not fall for it. To the degree she DOES however, is the degree to which your Mom also has issues about your beauty, which is childish, insecure and selfish on HER part as well.

Who knows? Maybe Dad once had an affair with a more beautiful woman, and Mom now just dislikes any beautiful woman (even her own daughter, with a little help from the other daughter).

What is the saying, it's lonely at the top? Sometimes our own families can be unsupportive and jealous of our natural gifts, which we were obviously given by God. Forgive her, and your Mom, but you may have to love them both "from a distance"--for your own peace of mind.

You are not required to allow your own family to tear you down out of jealousy to prove you love them. You are 29, so you don't need to do anything but send them Christmas and Birthday cards...

If their jealousy has pushed you away, they only have themselves to blame.

You should read the Old Testament story of Joseph. His mother sewed him a many-coloured coat out of patches of material. He was the youngest of all his brothers, but all of his brothers were jealous of him and tried to kill him. He survived being thrown in a pit and left to die by them, then moved to another place and worked his way up to being king there. Later, his brothers were destitute and needed his help and accidentally ran into him but didn't recognize him at first. He told them who he was, was nice to them and helped them financially. Then they asked for his forgiveness for trying to kill him.

Honey, I have two sisters and a brother who acts like a sister! It's just sibling rivalry. She could be jealous and from my experience that is her way of showing how proud she is of you in her own way. My youngest sis copies everything I do even bought a rabbit after claiming it was a dumb animal to have as a pet. Just grin and if it gets to be too bad, tell her if you don't stop, you won't hang around. A few days or weeks of being estranged, will make her appreciate the sister she has in you!

You two should have grown out of this by now but I think your sister says these things to wind you up and you're falling for it every time. Life is too short to worry about her insecurities. Ignore her catty remarks, get on with your life whilst trying to encourage her to get on with her life. Sounds like she needs to focus on something - job, hobby, anything!

She sounds very immature. Maybe she needs counseling to deal with issues within herself.
