They both treat the body as a whole....not as "parts". Chiropractors have more extensive training in many additional facets of healthcare. Chiropractors can do massage, but massage therapists are not supposed to do manipulations. Chiropractors also do not confine themselves to ONLY spinal manipulation. Chiropractors charge more than massage therapists, but both can work in conjunction with medical doctors.

A chiropractor adjusts the alignment of bones, most of the time within the again. A therapeutic massage therapist kneads tight muscle mass and fascia which might be pulling the ones bones out of alignment.

A massage Therapist massages muscles for pain and relaxation.
They can not render a medical evaluation.

A Chiropractor is a Doctor of Chiropractic medicine, they can interpret x-rays and re-align the spine. However, they can not prescribe medication.

Threapist is actually spelt "the rapist"! Anyway a massage therapist massage the whole body whereas a chiropractor specializes in the back and spine.

Massage therapists work on muscles to stretch, loosen up, work out the "knot"s, etc. A chiropractor is concerned with getting your spinal column (vertebrae) aligned correctly.

Therapist tend to rub off on you; whereas, chiropractors can either be real back breakers or provide you with good backup or keep you from being totally "spineless"!
