I am graduating from college and I am not returing for my degree, so I am getting my certificate. Should I participate in the ceremony for just a certificate, please share what you would do.

Absolutely - if you want to. If your class means a lot to you, there is no reason not to join in the festivities. Is this an Associate's certificate, a Master's certificate? Either way, if you would like to go, you definitely should. You worked hard for that certificate and you worked hard to graduate. It's time you were lauded.
If you disliked the school, etc., you are never under any obligation to go. Be proud of yourself, though.

If you want to go to the ceremony, go. If you don't want to, don't go. Did you have good experiences there? Make lots of friends? I did in college, so I went to my ceremony to celebrate with everyone. However in high school, I had bad experiences and made few friends, so I did not go the ceremony. I'd also take into consideration my family-- if it would be special for them to attend my graduation, then I'd go for that reason too.

I would. Unless you go back to school at some point in the future this may be a once in a life time experience. You may also have some relatives that are looking forward to this with great excitement.
