No there are no playoffs. They play for 9 months there is no need for a play off to determine who the best team is.
As for your other question, you can only watch teams in 1st 2nd or 3rd place but the thing about the EPL or football in general is that any team can beat any team on any given day. Just because a team is in 1st place doesn't mean that they can't get beat or have a really exciting game against a team in 18th place. That's what makes it interesting. The thing that determines the placement of teams is the consistency of teams and getting results week after week. It doesn't mean that Man United isn't going to loose to Sheffield in fact it means the opposite. That match is the match that Sheffield are going to play out of their skin and really make United play to the best of their ability. Sheffield want to win for pride if they beat a top team than their season is a success. When the top teams play each other its actually a more boring game because both teams are playing defensive games and are going for a draw so they don't drop any points and allow the other team to gain points. It usually ends up being boring long ball football that ends in a draw.

there is no play-off matches in the Premiership. all teams will finish their league matches on the same day (usually on Sunday) & the match will begin simultaneously. the teams with most points wins the Premiership. should two or more teams finish level on points, the goal difference & possibly the goals scored by the teams concerned will be used to decide the Premiership champions.
at the end of the season, teams finish in the top 4 will qualify for next season's UEFA Champions' League while the 5th place team will earn the UEFA Cup spot. the bottom three teams in the league will be relegated to the English League Championship.

No. There is no play-off. I think the premiership system is a fair one and better than a Play-off system. It is possible for for the lower ranked teams to beat the higher ranked ones.Middlesborough proved it against Chelsea this season. This makes things more exciting as any loss by a a higher ranked team can mean the differnce between finishing first or second.

Disgusted! Play-offs are the worst thanks to make your thoughts up a League championship. The crew who performs the perfect over the ordinary season doesn't continually win and an aspect who performed crap and scraped in because the eighth seeded crew or some thing can win all of it. It rewards mediocrity. what's the point of having an well-known season to commence off with? may as well only make it a knock out competition from the starting up.
