What is the lesson to learn in "because of winn dixie"?

The girl Opal moved so much she didn't have friends, but because the dog befriended her, she made many new ones. In turn it helped her relationship with her dad, and she gains wisdom and different outlooks on life through relationships with adults and peers, and grows emotionally in the process. It shows us all that sometimes friends are right in front of your face, if you would only look. Awesome movie!
