jojo & tankgirl1 were really cute! Love to see a sense of humour here. Do you "know" your boss well enough to start by having a simple little chat, no questions asked! & if so, maybe even take him to lunch? You never know. He might feel better if "led" into talking about himself. Who knows what heavy problems he may have? A little empathy--if only in feeling--wouldn't hurt you. If "..everyone else in the shop feels negative" that's compounding the problem, they don't "have" to feel negative, as if he were a virus or something. That attitude contributes to a very depressing environment. You're free to be yourselves! Just asking, but does anyone CARE about this guy? If not, at least try a strategy that will benefit ALL of you. Please give this a think. Resolve or endure--rather simple choices, yes?

he is probably allergic to yeast, you could look up yeast infection. yeast is a very depressing thing, he may need Olive leaf and Golden Seal to kill the yeast, & Evening Primrose oil with Fish oil to help put a smile on his face. If he's not getting enough 'loving' at home, his wife may need all of the above as well.
A Kinesiologist is good for reducing stress too. He may need my luvblis diet!

Either have a talk with him, or come into work dressed like a giant rabbit and dance on his desk. After a few weeks, when he gets depressed again, repeat. Problem solved.
