And what do they intend to accomplish from doing so? It seems like it will get to the point eventually where no one will use the post office anymore in search of alternatives.

because they are a government agency, therefore they have no idea how to run a successful busines, even when they have a monopoly on your mailbox and every mailbox in America.

If the post master was a CEO of a publically held company, he would be fired ASAP for not having a clue as to how to make money in a business.

Look at Bill Gates, he monopilized the operating system of pc's and in doing it he created a market for a product that no one even owned, He's the richest man on earth and computers keep getting cheaper all the time and make our lives much better and pretty much everyone owns one.

Compare him and MicroSoft to the post office and you get the idea. I say let Gates take over the post office.

They raise the price of postage stamps because it costs more to deliver mail. Gas goes up, and they use trucks to deliver... people work at the post office, and they need to be paid, don't they deserve a decent wage?

Try starting a small business delivering post; see just how much it costs. 39 cents is a bargain. No-one else does so that cheaply. The Postal Service is funded by postage, it's not paid for by taxes. They can't afford to send mail for free.

Have you seen the prices at the pump? every time the price of gas go up a penny a gallon, that is an additional $1M the post office must pay.

80% of the budget goes for salaries and all that entails, plus the USPS is subject to provisos put up by the Congress, like last year's Mandated Retirement Escrow account

Now, if I may point out, UPS, Fex Ex and DHL have raised their rates every year by at least 8% for the past 10 years, yet no one complains when they lose parcels or do a shabby job

I guess you ask that every time they raise the price of gas. They've raised the price of gas so often that you can't remember the price from day to day. You only pay 39cent to mail a letter and 75.00 a month on a cell phone, 29.99 for broadband connection to pay on line, 2.50 a gallon to drive around paying bills. 15.00 to pay by phone if you are late and you have the nerve to complain about 39cent. You just want to complain about the post office because everyone else does. True the post office has to stay competitive, but in the information age no one writes letters any way and the majority of the mail is really just bills. Everyone complains about junk mail but if everyone quits getting junk mail they will complain they are not getting their mail. Which way do you want it. Pay the 39cent and be glad you are in the USA because it's a lot more in other countries trust me.

Snail mail has already been replaced by email. The stamps keep going up so we can continue to have the United States Postal Service as a service.

Is nice to actually reach out and touch someone that way.

When you care enough to send the very best, it now costs 39 cents.

That have a good thing going. They ask if they can raise the price of stamps and it is approved. A year later, they do it again. Its called GREED.

Emal is tearing them up. Thats why they would like for email to be taxed. Good luck. Pops

like email?

If the cost of living goes up, you would want a raise to match it, right? Well, that what's happening with stamps. They need to cover the costs some how.
