You are right, I don't wear very high heals, and still my toes point to the floor when I am sitting.
And generally speaking, women are more supple than men.
It must be a greater tendon flexibility in female, which is probably a way to adapt to such major changes as carrying a baby...

You are almost right! It is anatomical and involves ligaments and tendons. Females have much greater flexibility than males and in women this is retained from younger years thru to adulthood. It is very likely to be hormone based.

ladies wear high heels which point their feet down and men wear flat shoes which keep them at a right angle to the ground when they don't wear them

it is beause women wear high heels and men don't. high heels are really bad for everyone. it makes your toe bear more weight than the heel and thus an affet the spinal cord

its all to do with muscle tension being different, heres a fun test that works on the same principle: shretch your arm out to the side of you with your hand flat and facing up. now bend your elbow and rest your fingers FLAT on your shoulder, if your a guy you wont be able to get them flat, but girls can.

I thought it was like a lady-like thing, my mum's always really gracefull and points her toes, but that's because she was a ballet dancer. And I just point my toes because it looks neater.

perhaps as men have traditionally been hunters, sitting somewhere in a hideout, but needing to be ready to jump on their feet at a moment's notice? got me.
