(1) I have downloaded a movie which has file ext .RAR (one big file). I have several players but none of them will open the file. Can anybody tell me how to get it to play - in words of one syllable please cos I am a newbie to all this.
(2) And .. this movie also has a password (which I have) but don't know what to do with the password or where to enter it.

1. Right click on the rar file and scan it with a virus program.
2. unpack the rar file with winrar.
3. usually when it`s unpacking it will ask for the password before it will unpack.
4. when you unpack it with winrar tell it to extract the file to a place you know. I have a file on the desktop called downloads.
5. VLC media player is a good player for watching most types of file.

Winrar is another extracter which will open RAR files.
RAR files are just like a zip file - can be confusing at first cause new icons - but just like a zip file - simple.
Open the RAR file. Hopefully your movie will be inside and ready to play.
Its possible though that inside you will find a whole run of other RAR files. Thing to do here is open the first one again with WinRar/or whatever RAR extracter your using.
Hopefully then you'll get your movie file.
It could be a type which needs to be played in a special way. With luck though you'll get it to play immediately in a simple player like WMP.
OH - THE PASSWORD is often the same name as the file itself with these type of things.

download a free program to extract the RAR archive. The password will be useful when you are extracting the archive. The movie will be able to play after it is extracted.

RAR is a type of zipped file - compressed...you need a RAR extractor program to unzip it...lots of free ones out there if you hunt around.

use a program to UNRAR it
there is a good one called WinRAR or something
