Assuming the dimensions given are exact and you don't mind using a shoehorn to get them into the box, you'll be able to get them 4 across (three inches wide into a twelve-inch distance), 3 down (nine inches), but only two deep, as three-deep would put you one inch above the top of the box. So - how many in 4 by 3 by 2?

9 / 3 = 3 Three cubes deep.

12 / 3 = 4 Four cubes across.

8 / 3 = 2 2/3 Two cubes high.

4 x 3 x 2 = 24 24 Fudge cubes can fit.

I would say 24. You could have three along the side that is 9 inches and four along the side that is 12 inches. So you would have 12 on the bottom layer. The contatiner is eight inches high so you could only have two layer so that would be 24.
