107000 miles is not too much for a car if it has been properly maintained. Make sure all basic maintenance (oil changes coolant replacement, belts and hoses, etc) is up to date;

There are many things on a car to check before making a long trip. Here are some the most important things to check:
1Check all fluid levels: oil, coolant (anti-freeze), power steering fluid (and transmission fluid if it’s an automatic).
2Test the coolant strength with a coolant tester (available at any parts store for about $2)
3Check belts and hoses for wear.
4Check the tires for wear and proper inflation.
5Check wiper blades and washer fluid level
6Check head lights, tail lights, turn signals, etc

Carry a cell phone with you in case you get stranded

I have a Mitsubishi Galant and it has 165,000 miles on it and still going strong. I drove it from Atlanta to New Orleans 3 years ago and had no problems. Just do some regular maintenance: check the oil, wiper fluid, transmission fluid, anti-freeze, and check the air filter, belts, and quality of the tires. Pep Boys has a diagnostic machine they can hook to any car. This is good for checking problems early. Also make sure you take your cell with you. You should be fine.
