yes we should be able to carry concealed weapons and i do all the time legally i feel very safe and i have a automatic weapon to and its legal criminals will carry weapons concealed because they don't care about the law and its real hard to defend yourself from a criminal if they have a gun and you don't and your gun back home will not help you when you are out in public

I'm not sure why you asked this in Religion and Spirituality, but here goes... You're absolutely right, but many Americans have an emotional and cultural attachment to owning guns. Many of the previous answers are a perfect illustration of this. The days of the Wild West weren't that long ago in historical terms and they will argue for it even if the arguments are ludicrous, as they often are to me. They don't want to see that in a modern civilised country, there is absolutely no need for it if guns are so restricted that criminals and the mentally unstable find it equally difficult to get hold of them. It works so well in the UK that we have a proud tradition of unarmed police, and on the whole, the police like it that way too. One of the answers quotes the Second Amendment, which will always come up here... the first part is significant to me. Now that the USA has the most powerful armed forces in the world and doesn't need to raise a "well regulated militia", surely the Amendment is out of date? Ah, but then you get endless arguments about what the Founding Fathers thought a militia was when they wrote that.

I don't think anyone needs an automatic weapon, but our constitution gives us the right to bear arms and until that's changed, Americans should absolutely be allowed to own a firearm.

yes by all means we should be able to carry firearms its are 2nd amendment right in our Constitution that's why we are still the most free nation come try and take my guns i got some lead for you ! or some buckshot !! when the government fears its citizens there is freedom when citizens have to fear there government there is oppression ! look at Canada and England for instance they gave up there guns and the only people who have guns are the military the police and the criminals , home invasion is up personal attacks have gone up the citizens can no longer protect there property and in alot of cases there own person, let some idiot come into my home to steal or hurt my family they are gunna get sent on the fast road to hell !! one the police can not be everywhere at once by the time they can get somewhere the event is over so it OK id rather protect my own stuff i don't trust anyone else to care enough or to be able to protect what i already know they cant or wont plus when a a nations citizens are armed it helps to keep the government more honest take you gun control and shuve it up your **** !!!

Just remember, gun control is the idea that it's better for a 95 pound woman to have a fist fight with a 265 pound thug instead of having an effective means to defend herself because it's "better for society."
In a system of liberty, the default position should be that everything is allowed unless there's a proven reason to not allow it. So in the absence of any study showing that keeping law abiding people from owning any kind of weapon alters crime rates in any positive way, of course we should be able to carry weapons if we choose to.

absolutely, the right to defend yourself is just that, and not one that should ever be taken away from US(A). those who fear handguns are those who are victims evetually of carjacking, home invasions, etc... they do not want to take repsonsiblity for their own life and safety and foolishly think the police and courts handle that, they do not, the police come in usally AFTER the crime has been committed. as for high capicity and high firepower, i am all for it, once again it is the scared liberal that fears such weapon in law abiding people, this is a liberal democrat verses conservative republican issue and as such the media is anit gun slanted yet the media loves to portray shoot outs in all forms of media, you look no foward to every movie poster that promises excitement and you'll notice a firearm prominemtly displayed, the mesage is clear, a firearm is power, protection, a weapon of vengance and a equalizer, yet the same media that makes money on such movies and tv, will slant against the firearms when it comes to the issue of them. those in povery stricken areas usally have no firearms and as such are prime candidates for being victims as the criminal populace at large knows the are unarmed and easy prey. you go to florida with it's more relaxed CWP's and crime rates are lower in counties that issue CWPs due to the fact that he criminal never really knows who might be carrying. To those who think we are a long civilized society and far removed from the old western frontiers or arming to protect your family have never been shot at ( yet ) and thus live comfortable isolated ( from povery and crime to some extent ) lives and thus find it easy to beg for laws curbing gun restrictions or banning them all together. such people tend to be liberal eleetist and are often very secure and smug in their nice afluent areas that they select and choose who would be their neighbor and what if any they tend to pack ( as in firearm ),

Yes. If we were not allowed to own a firearm, then who would have all the guns? The government!
I think you should study James Madison's argument on why the public should be armed, regardless of bad behavior.

We should be allowed to own firearms and carry concealed weapons. As far as automatic weapons are concerned, why should only criminals and terrorists have them?

Heck yeah we should!!! I think honestly that if every American had the right to carry a consealed handgun that the rate of crime itself would drop drastically. Because if a criminal knows forsure that the person they are getting ready to commit a crime agianst isn't armed they proably won't think twice about doing it. But what if there was a possibilty that they had a loaded weapon on them? I'm pretty sure that they would think twice. "An armed society, is a polite society."

Yes! It is our right and it is the responsibility of the adults to make sure the guns and the ammunition is kept safe from children. Making guns illegal is not going to lessen crime because criminals will purchase guns via black market and the law abiding citizens will not be able to protect themselves!
