I came up to my other computer to find everything shut down (including my desktop, monitor, speakers, modem, and printer). I unplugged everything from my surge protector and tried a new one, everything works fine except my computer and old surge protector. I tried a different power cord and I tried connecting it to another outlet but it still doesn't turn on. If u know any ways to fix it, please write them down. Thanks in advance

My first guess would be the computer's power supply. After you replace the power supply, then you can move down to the motherboard.

If you know how to replace the power supply, then go ahead and purchase the same wattage as your original one. If you have never done it, then take it to a local computer shop for repair. Or if it is under warranty, then contact your manufacturer.

In addition you can get a PSU tester at CompUSA cheap. The most likely problem is a burned out fuse inside the PSU. I don't recoment going into the PSU cause it could knock you back if you touch one wrong component. Have a pro do it or at leat someone experienced w/ power handling devices.

After you plug in your power cord directly to your computer you do you hear current running through the computer?

Do you see the green light lit on your powersupply in the back where the power cord is plugged in?

If not, then your powersupply is fried:

If so, then check the 4 lights on the back of the motherboard, A,B,C,D, any of them orange? If so, google what lights are orange, that indicates problems on your motherboard/processor.

the anwser to your question is this plug your computer back in and then put your hand at the back of your tower or desktop which everone you may have then push the power button on your pc if you fill air blowing back there your power suply is good but if you do not fill no air your power suply is bad which means you need to get a new one,see the power suply is what feeds your computer the juice to the mother board and everything else in your pc,good luck and i hope you get it fixed but thats what it sounds like to me

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
