I;m asking this as an inquiry about both person to person forgiveness and nation to nation forgiveness. All diplomacy between nations is undertaken by man to man dialogue.

For DJ_2006: Say one nation attacks another and there is a meeting of the authorized representatives of the nations. The attacked nation is composed of citizens some who want to retaliate in kind some who do not. The rep from this nation can forgive the attacker or not. What should be his answer if he is a Christian?

That's because MAN is the one who starts all wars! Do you ever hear about a woman starting a war?Man loves power and with Power comes GREED the root of all sin. Most of the wars are started because one person gets the mean green virus and wants more, more, more to where nation is against nation and diplomacy doesn't get better only worse.Forgiveness? I don't think it's in their vocabulary. It doesnt matter if you are a Christian or Jew or Catholic or Baptist...if a nation doesn't want to cooperate with the other countries or their sanctions and ignore policies and procedures then you have wars. It's sad that one person can get another country in turmoil or others alike over the word greed.Wouldn't it be nice if the two words "We Forgive" solved all the wars and hatred in this world. But it will never happen...not in this era anyway. You asked if Forgiveness is a sign of being weak. No I don't believe it's a sign of being weak but a sign of being a better person or a better nation by forgiving.

Forgiving a person for destruction to an entire nation would encourage others to do similar actions.Person to person relationships in family and friends level may require forgiveness for relationships to survive.

Forgiveness is more for the forgiver than the forgiven. Harboring resentment hurts you physically, mentally, and emotionally. It does not show weakness in anyway. Just because you forgive does not mean you lose your memory and allow someone to hurt you again in the same way.

To forgive is an enormous power fm within. it can never be a weakness. not everybody able to do that, often. if it invites further hurt it only tests how strong is your power to forgive. it is a great reflection of how close u r to God.
