I pronounce the name Kyra, K-eye-ra, and I know several people with the same name and they pronounce it like that too. But I have seen a lot of TV shows such as Reba and they pronounce it Kera. Kyra Sedgwick name is also pronounced like that. I was just wondering what other people think about how this name is pronounced.

I've only heard it as ki-ruh with a short 'i' as in 'is'. I guess k-eye-ra makes sense too, rhymes with Tyra.

I pronounce it the same way you do, and thought that Kyra Sedgwick pronounced it the same way! Haha that shows how much I know!

I have always heard it pronounced like Kera too.
The pronounciation K-eye-ra reminds me too much of Cairo, Egypt....Not that there's anything wrong with Cairo...I guess.
Aaaanywhoo, If you like the sound of K-eye-ra, maybe try an alternate spelling so it won't be so confusing. "Kaira" is one I have seen before, or "Kiyra", would be unique, but still cute...hmmm how about Keyerah???? mmm ...well...maybe?

I really like that name, and the way that you want to pronounce it. I am currently looking for names for my baby who will be born in May, and am stumped! This is not an easy task! I think that name is beautiful, and wouldn't be very confusing at all. I pronounced it that way when I read your post, and was surprised to find there was another way to pronounce it!!! :o)

my niece is name is kyra and it pronounced kyra lol and my sister and my niece cant stand it when they call her keyera like Reba's daughter in the show to my opinion o think it sounds pretty like kyra its unique

I'm 25 weeks pregnant and if I have a girl I planning on naming her Kiera Nikole. Keer-ah. So, I'm a big fan of the name! The only Kiera I've really heard of is like Kiera knightly....
