Who are they fooling; the American Democrat party is anything but democratic, it has strong socialist tendencies. Most of socialist Europe is suddenly wooing the Democrat party after they "took control" of congress.

Don't these people ever learn from the failures of history? Socialism is inferior to capitalism in more ways than one. Observe China who is fast leaving socialism and it's extreme cousin communism in favor of capitalism. They've found out in very pragmatic ways that socialism is inferior to capitalism.

We are a social democracy. Any government program that gives money to the people is a socialist program and last time I checked there were quite a few of them.

I doubt that the Democrats are socialists. Socialism is an ideology, and in my opinion the Democrats are not ideologues; they're cynical opportunists. They would rather make a living working a crowd than working a lathe or a punch press. They would rather lie, or pay or promise money, to the voters for votes than work for an honest living.

It's the votes they want, any way they can get them, because the votes will give them the power to extract a handsome living one way or another, legally, from their fellow citizens.

By the way, when Churchill was turned out of office by the voters in 1945, prior to the end of the war, his wife Clementine told him that she thought it was a blessing in disguise. He replied something to the effect that if it was disguised, it was very well-disguised.

Obviously you don't know world history. Capitalism throughout history has failed.

To answer your question, democrats are not socialist but I would say more FDR democrats. FDR created a pseudo-capitalist-socialist economy that saved our country from becoming a 3rd world country after the Great Depression.

As far as China, they are communist. Some argue they have lost a few of the communist theologies but so have we lost some of the capitalist theologies. A capitalist economy is based on a free market, etc.. that dictates wages etc... with deregulation of monopolies, illegal worker wages, among other things, this is not real capitalism.

Your argument backfires. You can not compare us claiming we are a true capitalist economy because aren't any longer.

No.

Democrats are the party of the people as history attests. Democrats have the best plan for america to progress. Investing in human capital is germane to promise and growth and Democrats share that same philosphy. Democrats exhort job training and retraining programs, both public and private, while Republicans cut funding. These are indispensable in an era when trade and technology bring rapid change to the job market, and these programs need constant retooling and reexamination.

Ted Kennedy said it best, "Cutting education during the Information Age is like cutting defense during the height of the Cold War."

Republicans unclear philosophy claims the rich will work harder if given more breaks and the poor will work harder if given fewer breaks.

Ever since the GOP lost the last election, the whining just gets louder and louder. Socialists and Commies...its like a chant. The truth, under GOP rule of congress, the Republicans proved they can outspend anyone on social spending by paying the campaign contributors with everyone else's tax dollars. Stupid is as stupid does. GOP seems like government spending more then the Democrats do.

No actually, China is not leaving communism, but allowing socialism to play a part. Look at the amount of Americans without health care insurance, how can you possibly spew something so ignorant about the failures of socialism? If it has failed, why does most of the Western world have it as the form of government? I'm a capitalist, but it is ridiculous to claim socialism has failed. The American Democrats are the most conservative of any liberal party in a Western nation. You should really travel more.

I disagree with that concept and defer to my previous reality on the priority of the meaning of socialism and your understanding of it.

I'm sure the Republicans will regroup after "losing control" of congress and continue their plans to make this country a theocracy with Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell as co-Presidents.
