I've never noticed it as an issue like fingernails on a blackboard.
I work at a grocery store (16 years) , so I've see quite a few.
I say "Q~~pon".

This is a very good question!
I don't think is a right or a wrong way. Actually I've heard it both ways and I not sure if it has to do with what part of the country you're in or what.
It seems to me that in the southern part of the United States, that it is said like "ku'pon".
But I might be wrong.
