Could be several things. Not getting gas:bad fuel pump. Not getting spark: bad coil or something else in the electrical system. Only your mechanic knows for sure.

The most COMMON failure here is the CAM and / or crank sensor. Most often it is the cam sensor, but they both fail regularly. It doesn't take much to change one. very simple. They aren't all that expensive either.
Best thing to do though is not to use the shotgun in the dark approach.
Run the diagnostics routine (retrieve the DTCs) and repair the problem, not the symptom.
If it will run enough to get you to a discount parts store, ask the nice fellows there if they would read the codes for you. this will give you a direction. But check the trouble trees in the repair manual before spending money on parts that aren't defective.

Check the Mass air flow sensor.
