It has been in "Rookie of the Year" and "Mr. 3000". The trick where the first baseman walks up to the mound to talk with the pitcher and walks back and acts like he doesnt have the ball, but then the guy on first base leads off and the first baseman tags him out. Has that ever been done in real life?

There have been fewer than 300 successful executions of the hidden ball trick in Major League Baseball. The last successful execution of the hidden ball trick was August 10, 2005, when third baseman Mike Lowell of the Florida Marlins caught Arizona Diamondback Luis Terrero (wikipedia).

It happens about literally a couple times a year or even less than that but it does happen. The last I remember is when the Cubs pullled a fast one on then dodger Chan Ho Park. Although I know it most recently happened in 2005 when Mike Lowell got Luis Terrero.
