Wii and XBox 360 are not just "gaming systems." They are quite different. On the Wii you bowl, play tennis, golf, box, that sort of thing. On the XBox you play a wide variety of games, first person shooters, real time strategy, adventure, and so on.

So it depends on what you want to play and how you want to play it. Since you are 119 dollars from an XBox 360, I would advise that you wait for it. If you can't wait, then you're going to get the Wii, simple as that.

If you can't afford a 400 dollar system, then go with the Wii because by the time you upgrade to everything that the premium has, you will spend well over the 100 bucks difference (hard drive: 100, component cables: 30?, Wireless controller: 50.) Even if you decide to go the core route, you still need the extra money to buy games. You might also want to pay an extra 50 bucks to get on XBL for a year + 1 month (1 month free for buying 360). So, until you can save up around 500 bucks, I would go with the Wii because it's something that you can afford.

If you do save up the money to get a 360, I think you'll enjoy the 360. It's got great graphics, some really grade A games now and in the future (Gears of War, Halo 3, Assassin's Creed).

If you want to get a Wii, it's still a great choice, but you're probably too young to appreciate the Nintendo game franchises (Zelda, Metroid, Mario Bros, Star Fox). You'd be surprised how much fun and intuitive the Wii-mote can be. It's going to revolutionize gaming like how the mouse revolutionize PC gaming. The Wii have/will have grade A first party games (Zelda, Metroid, Mario Galaxy). The only pick I have with the Wii is that it might be tough to get back the 3rd party support that it lose with the Gamecube.

Want next gen graphics and games for the mature player, go with the 360.

Want games that's fun to play alone or with friends who actually comes over to your house, go with the Wii.

TRUST ME!!!! Getting a core system for the 360 is NOT WORTH IT. Get the 360 after you get that last $70. It IS worth it, it's amazing.
