here's a website that I found helpful when I had this problem during pregnancy..
It actually said hormones might be to blame :)

Yes your stomach will itch because it is growing and stretching. But whatever you do do not scratch it. It will only tear your skin and cause you to have more strech marks. I was told this by my physician and I ended up with only 2 stretch marks. She informed me that when it is itching try rubbing lotion on it. Ones with Cocoa Butter work really well. Or if that is not an option try scratching your leg or something else...anything but your stomach. Unless you don't care about stretch marks then just scratch away. LOL. Anyhow i hope that this helps you out. And good luck with the expecting arrival! God Bless and Have a merry Christmas!

If you have too much salt in your diet you could be retaining water, in which case you need to cut down on crisps and procesed foods. Thata sounds the most likely reason if it is just around your stomach an not general weight gain. To be honest, your question isnt too specific about the rate at which your stomach is growing, if it is really fast then I would suggest that you see a doctor.

Yes, that's the skin itching because it's stretching.
To ease this (and to help prevent stretch marks), moisturize with lotion twice a day...once after you get out of the shower, and once at another time of the day.

some say it is stretching and sometimes it is but a week ago (and I'm still pregnant myself) I had stretchmarks that became textured and itched like all hell! Doc said it's something called "pups" that's not contagious and just happens to some. However, thankfully, my doc also noted to me that it's safe for pregnant women to take Benadryl to ease the itching and believe me it works! try it, it may be your salvation too.

Yes, It's stretching. Mine itched horribly my first time. Drink Tons of H20 and I used every type of mosture I could get my hands on and the only thing that gave me relief was "AVONS" Skin so Soft spray oil. Felt sooooo good. Try it!!! Also, if you are the type thats gonna get stretch marks.... you will get them. Look at your moms tummy. If she doesn't have them you will probably be fine. I was! I had (2) 10 pound babies and just got a few that faded in time. But they wern't on my belly. They were on my breast! Where them proudly! Enjoy.... You beautiful pregnant goddess!! :)

Sometimes the abdomen feels itchy because of dryness. Over the counter creams and lotions help a lot. Happy holiday.

Yes! and don't scratch..you'll get stretch marks...!! Always carry around lotion to rub on it. A warm damp cloth is very useful as well. it makes the itching subside...
Hope this helps ..Congrats!!!

Because the skin is stretching. Use cocoa butter or other good emollient/lotion to help make it stop itching.
