I am from the US, but moved away 15 years ago. I was in Germany for 10 years, Nigeria for a bit more than 3, and Manila now since about 2 years. I miss absolutely nothing about the USA. My bi-annual visits have been shortened to 2 days, which means I spend 2x as long in the plane as I actually do in the US.
Everything about the US is a cramp. It starts at the border, continues with the silly driving laws, drinking laws, smoking laws, and the wost part is the general closed mindedness and prudishness of the people.

I lived there for six months and I missed: Mexican food, sharp cheddar cheese, around Christmas I missed grandma's fudge, my car keys and driving, some TV series I previously followed, real showers (of course) as I lived in a house without running water, cold weather, snow, hiking in the Sierras, my down comforter, my soft bed, my computer at home rather than walking to the internet cafe every day, and much much more. I liked having lots of Asian type people around, dozens of trustworthy relatives to help us with the baby, Milkee Polvaron, and being away from my family.

Ofcourse they will miss their ex girlfriends or boyfriends. They will miss their relatives and friends, they'll miss watching live football, baseball or basketball games. They can watch local sports but they are not as good as sports in other countries. They might also miss the food, the climate. think there are just too many things to be mentioned one by one.

Having been an expat in the third world for 30 years, my list is simple:-
Maynards wine gums.
The smell of horses in the rain during a hunt.
Frost over the fields on a crisp fresh morning.
Driving through the back lanes to the farm through 1 metre of snow.

I miss the convenience, the cleanliness, the orderliness...but hey, this is also a fun country. It's crazy. But it's got its perks.
