Americans perceive them selves as individuals and this the reason we are not united. We have problems in our country that must be solved. Problems such as racism, hate, violence, crime and corruption. We must become a united people to solve these problems. America is not like most countries, this is a country of people from countries from around the World. We don't have cultural ties with each other. There is only one type of unity that will work in America, it is spiritual unity. In other words We must become a nation of people that is coexisting with the exact same state of mind. A nation people living their lives guided in their thinking and behavior by the exact same values.

All cultures in the world have been studied by using five components (Hofstede's dimensions). One of them is individualism. The US ranks high in individualism which means that Americans prefer to see themselves as unique. They want to be rewarded for individual performance instead of group efforts. Americans value earning a higher rank and managing many people below them. This cultural dimension is very interesting. Follow the source for more information.

I think they are alot of I people out there that like to group themselves to others thinking it will give them some type of clout. Example: All those that like to hang onto Paris Hilton and vice versa. I also think there are others that view themselves as individuals. Determine not to become part of a statistic. They want to be recognized for their individual accomplishments. Me, Myself, and I like to go our own route. Every once in awhile seeking the advice of wisdom from those before me. Either way, one or the other, makes America what it is today.

As an American I perceive myself as being very blessed for not being born in a fascist, socialist, communist, or third world country. I am blessed to live in a country where freedom prevails. I am blessed to be an American of which I have the freedom to worship without any interference from the government.

The main thing is we live in such a great free country. We really are too busy working and enjoying our lives to worry about semantics.
