Yeah my friend did it.. with other companies though.

You just have to get it unlocked.

It is possible to use a T-mobile phone with a Cingular sim card. However, the phone must first be "unlocked."

Each cellular brand (T-mobile, Cingular, Cellular One...) purchase their phones from the phone manufacturers with software in them that will only allow a matching brand sim card to work in a matching brand phone.

There is now physical difference between these items from one brand of carrier versus another. They just try to enforce you to buy from them buy making the item exclusive to them only.

If you get this RAZR from your friend you can unlock it yourself or send it out and have it unlocked. If you go to your Yahoo search engine and type in "unlock razr" you will come up with a bunch of companies that can unlock your phone for you right over the internet. All that you would have to do is purchase a cable that plugs into a USB port on your computer and then into the charging/data port on your phone. The rest is cake.

Verizon phones are the only US phones that will not work with any other US companies. The use a signal called "CDMA," where as everybody else seems to be using "GSM." Unfortunately, the two styles cannot "talk" to each other.

I hope this helps you...

Yes, but you need to get the phone unlocked. If it is already unlocked then you are ready to go (find out by putting your SIM card in and seeing if it can make calls)! However, it is more likely that is it not. Providers lock their phones so that it will only accept their own SIM cards. There are unlocking services out there, you just got to find them. It's definitely worth a shot since the RAZR retails for over $199 if you don't get it with a contract.

No. You would have to switch providers. Each phone has a chip that is specific to the providers signals.

If you are able to remove and exchange the SIM chip, then you can use the phone.
