O.K. i just built my computer and i got a set of speakers but the had the RCA type endings so i got an adapter and plugged them into the back of my board and now I'm not getting any sound .i checked the control panel and its not registering them.

Make sure your speaker set is amplified or has a built-in amp. Usually one that needs to be plugged to the AC line. Then, make sure you aready installed the drivers for your audio hardware, usually in a CD bundled with your motherboard or with your sound card.

I hope you did not plug it in while the computer was switch on or the speaakers switch on if you did you will have blown your sound card

so here is what you can try out, go to control, systems. hardware devices and go down to sound video and games controller.
and uninstall anything to do with sound and video, but first make sure you have your motherboard drivers CD handy if you have not got it, go to the motherboard manufactures website and download the latest drivers, for your motherboard,

once you know you have got the drivers you can uninstall the above, then close down and restart the puter, it should say found new hardware and start a search for the drivers, if it can not find any put the motherboard cd in the drive and point to your cd drive
