I always said I would never get a tattoo, but lately I've been getting the urge to get a ribbon or something with Jesus' name on it over my heart. Really bizarre. Opinions?

Wow, lots of great answers you all. You've all made points I'm going to be thinking about.
TJTB, the phase thing is an excellent point.
To everyone who said think about the sagging... thanks. That's something I didn't even think about. At this point, I probably won't do it for because of this and what TJTB said about the phases.

I don't think so. I don't believe there's anything sinful about a tatoo. If I weren't married I would probably get Yaweh in Hebrew tatooed on my back. I think that'd be cool.
It would be a reminder to me that I am the Lord's and that I must honor this temple.

Oh, no. I love the Lord, too. But you may regret getting a tattoo of any kind later. They fade, and become misshapen as you age, when your skin gets looser. Tattoo removal is costly.
But, saying that if God wanted you to have a tattoo, he would have put one there, is rather like saying 'if God didn't want a boy to have foreskin, he wouldn't have put it there.' (Though, really, I do believe that circumcision is a decision that should be made by the boy when he grows up, and not a decision to be made for him when he is a baby, unless it is absolutely necessary to treat a medical condition. Even federal assistance will no longer pay for baby boys to be circumsized, as the argument that it prevents urinary tract infection holds no water. Unnecessary surgery shouldn't be performed on infants.)
I'm rambling.
Be well.

Don't do it and here's why:
If you used to not be for it, then this is definitely a phase. Never do anything permanent while going through a phase. At the end it's up to you, but I vote for no tattoo.
ps a lot of men hate tattos and if you're single that maybe a deal breaker to a lot of guys (especially decent guys with jobs and standards).

It's your body. Just remember as you get older your skin will stretch and sag. Might not look too good when you're 70.

Do you, hon- but if I were you, I'd get it somewhere else... by the time you're 65, gravity will have turned it into a billboard.

That is really going to hurt. Personally, I wouldn't get one there. In the end it is up to you,

Before you do it, try to picture it when you're 80 years old and your skin is all saggy.
