Mobile cost is really cheap here. Reason why people opt using SMS than calling. For as low as 20 pesos a day people here can keep their phone going. The only expensive thing is investing on the mobile, that's when they shell out the most, purchasing a mobile phone! But once the mobile phone is taken care of, then it's just a matter of maintaining prepaid credits on their mobile. People can't really afford maintaining a post-paid subscription reason why there's prepaid where they just top up credits on their phone by buying prepaid card or through electronic transfer. Plus mobile companies have promos when it comes to texting, the unlimited text. So I guess that explains why Filipinos patronize SMS because it's cheap!

bcoz it's much cheaper to send SMS than to call it only costs P1.00 per SMS, since call rates are P6.00 or more, and other networks give free text messages on a P300 call card. it reaches a lot of areas even in the provinces, unlike the regular landlines, coz in some areas there are no landlines.

Keeping in touch with relatives, friends, colleagues are very valuable in the Philippines. That's the Filipino way of getting connected, express their feelings or to be close to someone they love even in a distant place. "To be near yet so far".

Because Filipinos are by nature shy and reserved. They cannot express their emotions and feelings personally specially to their parents, gf, husbands and wives. That is why they do it thru SMS.

Some people here, I think, did not understand your question.
