ok now with ball pythons they can eat every other day, every week, once a month, and sometimes once a year. they are known to go almost 2 years without eating. no need to worry about your snake because as long as he eats something every other day or once a week you will be fine. i have 2 ball pythons and they eat every week and now that the weather is getting cooler they will not eat as much. snakes go into a hibernation period and then come out for a while then go into it again and then they want to eat. just keep the tank at 84-86 in the day and at night keep it at 80-82. you don't want them to warm because you do want them to sleep alittle bit. see ball pythons can survive a lot longer then any other snake in captivity because of the way they keep their weight. when they eat they are known to eat something a little bit larger then what they normally eat. my female is 5 ft long and she eats large rats and my male eats med rats. no need to worry about your snake he will be fine. just make sure that you keep water in there for him to drink, also keep offering him food. now remeber that if he doesn't eat much in the winter then you will know that he is going to sleep for awhile. but when he wakes up he will eat alot and will eat alot in the warmer months. also remember that snakes are nocturnal so they may not eat in the day, they will eat at night. again don't worry about your snake because he is fine, mine do the same thing and right now mine are sleeping alittle and they wake up every so often to drink. hes' fine. i hope that i made you feel better, good luck.

Some snakes eat less in the winter- you can try to increase his cage temperature. If your house got colder, he may need an extra heat light to keep the temperature where it needs to be (high 90s directly under the lights; mid 80s on the cooler side). Also, even a baby ball python shouldn't be eating more than once per week. The older they get, the less frequently they eat- my 4 year old boa only eats once or twice a month! Warm him up a bit, wait a few more days, and try again. He'll eat when he's ready.

First of all, i wouldnt feed that often, i feed all my hatchlings every 5 days and the bigger ones every 7 or 10 days. If its over a yr. old, most ball pythons will not eat during the winter, it is the dry season in Africa where the snakes are from. I have one female that goes off feed for about 8 months, stops end of Oct. and starts back eating in June. I hate reading that they hibernate, which is false, balls do not hybernate. This is also the beginning of the mating season, and they wont eat. just make sure that you temps, and humidity is correct.

Don't worry yet. Pythons are known for going "off feed" periodically. I had one ball last year eat her last meal in January and did not eat again for nearly six months. In July she just resumed her normal feeding habits and has been eating normally ever since. I currently have a male ball that has been a voracious eater for well over a year, and just in the last month he has begun refusing food. It is fairly normal with any python species so don't worry as long as he doesn't lose a lot of weight (25% or more). If that happens then you may want to see a vet, but for now I wouldn't worry at all. ;) Later.

We actually have a ball that we received approximately a yr in the past and she or he does not appear to get into mice both. I f we go away one in her cage she may also kill it then go away it lifeless however would possibly not consume it. One factor we attempted was once going to fuzzies after which after a couple of weeks we went to hoppers now we're giving her little one rats for the reason that although they're the scale of a mouse they do not combat like a grown mouse does she appears to be k with those so take a look at that it probably your snake is simply skitterish round an entire grown mouse. Also the rats are meant to have extra protein so they're greater to your snake. P.S. have you ever checked her truly good for mites(little purple insects) this may occasionally rationale a snake to quit consuming for the reason that they're so uncomfortable.

Snakes hybernate in the winter. During the summer months it was preparing its body for hibernation. This means it will pretty much sleep the entire winter. Do not disturb it as this is completely natural for snakes. still supply a little food though as they sometimes like a midnight snack
