I want to know everyone else's experience in the office worker field, as an Administrative Assistant I. I am new to this, and just wondering if it would be right for me.

Admin aides are a jack of all trades, and the more skills you have the better chances of both enjoying the job and advancing.
Admin aides type, answer phones, file, do computer data input, greet visitors. Where I worked there were different levels and the higher the more skills. Some took notes at meetings, mostly using audo tape but with notes. Others used lap top. Some ordered the supplies.
Give the job six months or more. Ask questions, listen, watch others, and at home practice those new skills. At the end of six month you should know if this is the job for you.

Depending on what type of environment you like to be around at work. Administrative Assistants wear many hats. Answering phones, ordering supplies for the office, helping HR with new employees, managing the office and in some cases working directly for the CEO of the company! It all depends, every company has it's own description of what their admins do. I was in that field a long time ago, but it was a good start to an awesome career that I am in now! It gives you the opportunity to learn a business and climb the ladder!
Go for it, if you are looking for a career and not just a job.

It will depend on who you are assisting. Bosses can be great, or horrible. Listen closely, don't be afraid to ask questions, and never make the same mistake twice. Also, always alert your boss if you've made a mistake. Better to hear it from you, along with your solution on how to fix the mistake of course, than to be blind-sided later.

depends on the company.
Some days I ask the boss to hire a monkey. I do the same thing over and over and over.
Other days its great, busy and a variety of jobs.

If you don't like to sit, and answer phones, and type ALOT...then it could be the wrong field. I liked it OK...but I would prefer to move
