Now is too early. It'll torture them. Wait until at least a week--and preferably two or three days--before Christmas.

Hi there,
I think it all depends on how old your children are. If there too young they will just get into them. My kids are a bit older so I have started wrapping each night already. I put a few under each day, it helps build the excitement for them. When Christmas night comes, they have the family presents all under the tree, and Santa's gifts are easy to identify because there the only ones that are under the tree not wrapped.

When I was in elementary school, my mom started putting presents under the tree the week before Christmas and it was pure torture. We were also forbidden to go into the living room (where the tree was). We were told that if we were caught peeking or shaking a present, it would be taken away.

If they're young enough to still believe in Santa Claus, anything before Santa makes his stop at your house is too early.
If they don't believe in Santa Claus anymore, I'd say a few days before Christmas is early enough. You don't want the kids around the tree shaking their gifts nonstop, trying to figure out what you got them.

I believe this would depend on how young your children are. If I were to put mine under a tree now, our 9 month old son would have them raided theough in minutes, or chewing them apart. So for us, we are waiting until we put him to bed on Christmas Eve. But if your children are older, I would put them under the tree whenever you want. They can shake and guess, but that is just about it. Plus that adds to the shock on Christmas day when they are trying to see if they guessed right or not.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!

the gifts from the family or from santa?
in our house after Thanksgiving we start wrapping presents slowly and adding a couple each week to build excitement. they love helping with our extended family and then when looking through them see one for them.
we don't put any santa gifts out till after they go to bed on Christmas Eve.
