ok, would it be wrong to kill a child in iraq opposed to let a homeless man starve on the streets? what is wrong with our country? i know that we have the freedom to do what we can and go to school and everything else but what about the people that dont have those opportunities. People please react to this question in a civilized way.

I guess what you're trying to say is that inaction toward a social problem is every bit as bad as action towards a perceived problem. I'm not American so I cannot speak with authority but I can certainly relate to what you're saying - as a member of the Western world and a 1st world country. Apathy is the silent killer and greatest erosion of morals in the West, I believe. I sponsor a child in Uganda and whilst it's not much and I could probably do more, I take some comfort that he benefits from such a simple gesture.
The problem is, the stigma attached with say the homeless and the fact they're largely invisible by the media.

Use to be in the Army. The Army standards are now that you can join at age 44, so this homeless guy has a home if he wanted to join where they cannot fire you unless, you get an article 15 or your contract is up. A child can be killed if she is packing heat (a weapon) or knows your position, because she will tell other terrorist where you are. I have heard it happen over there. A child left alive, revealed a soldiers position. Women wearing berka's pack heat and have to be inspected by female MPS (military Police). Now if the homeless guy is a Vietnam Vet, he needs not starve. he did his time.

Would you feel better if we fed the dead Iraqi child to the homeless guy? Judging by how terrorists run from American soldiers I bet their kids would taste like chicken.

well...america definitely needs a new stand on global politics... perhaps it should isolate itself from the rest of the world...perhaps do more good but don't mess about unnecessarily...

the problem is that we in this country have no understanding of what it means to be poor worldwide. we do not have the poverty that the rest of the world does.
