A good pet for a lazy kid...teddy bear. WHY DO PEOPLE THINK IT'S THEIR RIGHT TO OWN PETS! Having a pet is a comittment and a responsibility! If this brat's not willing to do the dishes or clean his room, why on earth would anyone believe he'd clean an iguana cage, or remember to feed his goldfish?
You wouldn't let a lazy person babysit would you? why give them a life to take care of?

The best pet for a lazy kid is NO PET.
Lizards are actually quite difficult to care for. They have to eat certain foods, the temperature in their terrarium has to be just right, they like cleanliness. No animal, no matter how easy or cute, will make a kid less lazy.

No living creature will thrive if neglected. Fish require extensive care, water changes, monitoring of temps and chemical levels, etc. Reptiles of any kind require heat lamps, temperature monitoring, specific diets and feeding schedules, weekly cage cleaning, daily watering, etc. Birds need a TON of care. Cats and dogs too. There's really no creature on earth that a lazy child needs to have- I agree with the others, tell your mom to forget it. There's no point letting an animal die because a kid is too lazy to care for it properly.

A stuffed animal would be the best for a lazy kid. One of the kids on my block when we were growing up had lots of animals die because of neglect after a short time feeding and cleaning up after the pet got to be too boring.
Don't give living things to lazy kids!!!!

No. My ex was similar. Here is what I did: I got a second job as a barrista. Then I made sure I worked equal hours. I spent time at the gym that work did not cover. I then INSISTED on dividing the chores. After all we worked the same hours. It took three months, but he begged me to quit my second job. Then I realized he never appreciated me and left and now I am a sahm and my husband still helps with chores because he appreciates me and knows I work hard. :)

Whatever you do, if you get a turtle- don't get one that lives in water. The tank stinks really bad. And some lizards aren't that hard to care for. He'll probably want to hold it though so you should get something kinda slow like a skink or something. (I think they are slow) My lil brother had one and he liked it.

Teach the child responsibility first! No creature should be given to a child like you describe.

How about a sloth. They don't require much care and next to the sloth your cousin will look like ''Mr. Activity''.
