I'm a mother of 3 and i only hope Ive done neither to them. But i would say an unfavored Child. Don't really know why, but it just seems worse, cause the favored child get attention and the other doesnt

Well, I know I am the UNfavored one, and the only burden I carired was the constant urge to please my mother. I felt that way for years. I've learned to suppress those feelings as I've aged. And to this day, I am 36 and still the UNfavored one. I definitely carry the burden.

The unfavored child - at least where grandparents are concerned. My mother favored my half sister's children over mine and now my children, in adulthood, cannot stand the sight of her and I can't blame them one bit!

The favored child, if he/she has a conscience, because then they will be trapped between trying to identify with the "non-favored" child(ren) and keeping up the standard for the approval of the people who favor them. Whoa to the favored child who isn't favored anymore, there's no where to go but down (if their line of thinking/view of themselves is only through the eyes of those who "favor" them). Favor has conditions.
