I've always been intimidated by the idea of wearing red. I want to look classic and sophisticated. I have trouble picking out a shade for myself because I have black hair and pale skin. Anything I wear really pops. Is red lipstick for a more dressed up affair, or can I wear it casually (jeans and a tee shirt of hoodie).
Color/brand suggestions?
How to coordinate lip liner with lipstick?

you can wear red anytime, it is a classic...

for a more casual look you may just want to do a lip stain, I think Nars has one...or Benetint...A juicy tube or similar gloss tube in a red tone would look cute with a sweater and jeans as well...

For a more dressed up thing, go full on red...

The key to this look is the bravado, you must have a lot of confidence to pull off red lipstick otherwise you will put people to mind of a child playing in her mothers makeup

Red lipstick can look amazing with ANY outfit and with your dark hair and fair skin I bet it would be perfect! If you're intimidated by the idea of RED LIPS, get yourself a few cheapie 99 cents red lipsticks in different shades and wear em when you're just kicking around the house to get used to seeing yourself in them. You'll find a shade that's right for you. Also, if you prefer, you can put clear lip balm or gloss on first and then dab the red on top to get a more sheer look that will make your lips look beautiful, without feeling like they're too bright.

When you wear red lipstick make sure that you wear light eye make-up, and minimal blusher. A good cheek tint will do the trick (Benetint, Tarte Cheek Tint in Flushed or The Body Shop's lip and cheek tint for a less expensive alternative). Go easy on it. The key word is LIGHT.

For red lips, I suggest MAC Lipstick in Russian Red, or if you're more of a gloss girl, wear the Lustreglass/Lipglass in Russian Red too. It's lovely.

I personally wear red lipsticks even on casual affairs, but I make sure that I use the lighter shades. I liked Sephora's lip marker in Strawberry (I think. They discontinued it now) and Lancome Juicy Rouge in Grenadine.

Also when you wear red lipsticks, make sure that your clothes are in the safe shades. Don't make your clothes compete with your lips. Black or white tops are the safest bets.

i like red lips with pale skin and black hair because of the constrast and it gives a punch of color.
personally i think red lips look a lot better on pale people then people with exremely dark skin.
you can make red lips your signature look.
gwen stefani is known for red lips.

pick a shade of red based on your skin undertones,
there is a wide range of red lipsticks so you'll probably find one that will look good on you.
with red lipstick you have to very precise when applying or else it will look sloppy and everyone can notice a mistake.
when you wear red lipstick do not wear clothes that are skanky or else you will look tacky prostitute.

red lipstick isn't just restricted to a dressed up affair,
one of my friends wears red lipstick everyday (at school), she usually keep the eye makeup fairly simple with just a touch of mascara and subtle eyeliner, with no blush or else that would be too much color. she currently uses mac lipstick in viva glam which is a deep red with no shimmer/glitter.
i also wear red lips sometimes, using a burt's bees lip shimmers in raisin and rhubarb. rhubarb is less intense, according to the burt's bees website it says rhubarb is a golden pink but it turns out more red than pink. i usually dab raisin on my lips or apply and then blot off for a not as intense look. i like loreal lipstick too.
sheer red gloss is also an option if you are not comfortable with wearing red lipstick.

You, my dear are the perfect person to wear red lipstick! Your hair and skin will compliment many shades of red. I like the NARS (Shanghai Express or Hindu), and MAC (O or Lady Bug) shades of red . If you have a Sephora store close by, you should drop in and let one of their consultants help find the right shade for you. But, YES!!! go for it. Red is very HOT this season and you can wear it well!

Red!!!!!! Is amazing! It's that classy rocker style.

I have very pale skin, and white blonde hair. As a matter of fact, if you can see my pic, that's me! I'm wearing bright red lip stick.

I've noticed alot of pale girls wear red lip stick with jeans, and casual clothes.

I think it looks amazing any way.
