I have varied interests, I love Dean Koontz, books like Intensity where I just can't put them down. Also though books like A tale of two Cities. It just depends.....has to be deeply intresting or a real page turner.

Good question - I don't seem to have a set formula for what makes me enjoy a book. So, instead I'll just tell you what doesn't keep me interested and that's cliched writing, lazy dialogue and boring overly descriptive paragraphs. If you can't capture what you went to say with a minimum of well chosen words, then I'm bored.

All time best book - well the jury is out, but some of my favourites include - The Dark Tower series, Papillon, The Caine Mutiny, The Shining, Kane and Abel, The Narnia Chronicles, Seven Little Australians, The Little Round House, Wuthering Heights, The Time Machine, The Island of Dr Moreau, The History of Mr Polly, David Copperfield, A Clockwork Orange, Jaws, The Deep, The Island, and so on and on

Characters you really care about, a good plot that grabs the imagination, a good starting point even if there are flash-backs and an ending that makes you remeber the book even after you've read it

I have a few fav books: in no particular order...

* "Player Of Games" by Iain Banks (i forget if he has the initial 'M' in the middle of that, it is a 'Culture' novel)

* "Lightening" by Dean R Koontz (he may have left the initial 'R' off that one, tho, LOL)

* "Little Women" by Louisa M Alcott

* "The Narnia" books by C S Lewis

* "I Am Alive and You Are Dead: A Journey Into the Mind of Philip K Dick" by Emmanuel Carrere

...I could go on but those books definitely do remain in my mind, some even years and years after reading them

PS What is your favourite book?

Catcher In the Rye is the greatest book ever written because Holden Caulfield is the most relatable fiction character ever. That's what makes a book good for me - when you can relate to the main characters.

My all time favorite is Time and Again by Jack Finney.

For me, it has to be well written, no obvious laboring of points, and fairly quick-moving. I don't enjoy sex in a book (what's the point, unless you can't get any, any other way) and I don't like graphic violence. There's plenty of both on the 10 p.m. news for those that like it!

I like a book that keeps me in suspense. I also like the classics. My all-time favorite is 'To Kill A Mockingbird' by Harper Lee.
