Oh no! Wow, 6th grade seems old enough to deal with that. Maybe he just mostly feels like he's been duped all these years! Tell him you're sorry for not telling him sooner, but that you wanted him to enjoy the myth for as long as possible.

(I told my daughter last year when she was in 1st grade, since some kid in her class told her first. Oddly enough, she doesn't remember having that conversation with me and has gone right back to believing! This year, she hasn't asked me if he's real or not. I suspect she just wants to keep believing.)

"We?" Its not your place or job its your Mother and Fathers (if both present! Of course its hard accept magic is part of childhood and its sad to see the magic gone! Sounds like it wasn't handled well. Santa the person may not exist but the spirit of giving love etc that Santa represents does! Just because no fat man in a red suit slides down your chimney on Christmas Eve does not mean the magic of Christmas is gone. Its not the man but what he represents that lives! Yes Virgina there is a Santa Clause. I have five kids and four of the five know and I dealt with in much the same manner I just described but longer. Don't Santa away take the myth of a man not what he stands for! Once a child knows magic does exist but not in form they thought they accept and even find themselves more excited!

You shouldn't have told him ... but you did, now all you can do is talk to him and make him understand that if he believes that's all that matters. Santa might not be real but the idea of him is. Tell him that Santa isn't about getting gift but he is about cheer and happiness also being a good person so that good thing will happen to you!
hope that helps
peace love and bubble gum

Well i don't think you should tell him. Let him figure it out on his own. Your parents must be really good at hiding "Santa Claus's" identity. Why don't you tell your parents to be less secret this year. Tell your parents to use the same wrapping paper for Santa, and don't change your hand writing when doing the gift tags. Take it slow. Slowly let him know that Santa is not real. That is how i figured it out a while ago, and i was less mad when i figured it out on my own. I have the same problem with my neighbor too!!!! GOOD LUCK AND HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Tell him even though Santa Clause isnt real. But if you believe in him then he has a christmas spirit of true kindness. Even though Santa doesnt give presents he is a sign of love for the whole world. If this is any help Im glad. if not I do wish you the best of luck.

Children at some point in their lives come to realize that santa isnt real. You shouldnt have told him, Im sure by 6th grade unless he has some nerological issues is aware that Santa is made up. And if he has nerological issues what is the big deal in letting him think that Santa is real, everyone needs something in life to believe in.

WHAT A ROTTEN THING TO DO AND I HOPE YOU FEEL LOUSY.
You screwed up big time !!!!! Crushed a child's dreams, belief systems and imagination.

Why can't people let things alone and allow kids to be kids and to have their childhood beliefs as long as possible.
I hope other parents learn a lesson from this !!!

The only thing you can possibly do is tell him to trust and believe in the spirit of Santa.

My son is 10 and he is in 4th grade. He has figured out by himself that Santa is not real and that mom and dad are the ones that place the gifts in the middle of the night.

Keep telling him Santa is real, keep the fantasy alive and he too will figure it out on his own. :->

try to connect to his friends, I NEVER acted up around my friends, no matter HOW upset or hurt i was. Tell his friends to tell him, that way he will take it in, and by the time he gets home, he'll forget and wont care. Maybe tell him that if he is REAL good about this, ure mom will give him something EXTRA, and tr to look sad about this, that way he feels good that he gets something "better" than you.

Try to explain it to him logically. Tell him how could one man travel the whole world so fast. or tell him how can reindeers fly. Don't worry too much though, even without your help, he will eventually come to realize that santa is fake on his own.
