Also, the microwave is not heating anymore. This happened a few minutes ago. When I opened the microwave to take the food out, it sounded like the microwave was still on, while the door was OPEN. Is this normal or is there something wrong?
The biggest thing I'm afraid of is: I was in front of the microwave for a while while it was open, and I'm thinking, have I been exposed to radiation? Will I get cancer or die or even get sick?

Relax there is no atomic radiation comming from your microwave. It sounds like an interlock switch or two failed and allowed the microwave to continue running. It is more likely just the fan and not the magnetron(the tube that produces microwave energy) that continues running.
Either call for a repairman or get a new unit. Since microwaves have come way down in price it is more likely that you could buy one for the cost of repair.

you will not get sick or cancer or die the only way this would happen if you were laying in it while you were cooking just toss it out and buy a new one running while the door was open was caused by someone slamming it breaking the safety switch.people get paranoind even around airport xray machines you would have to run your body thru the machine over a thousand times before it would even start to show up I have been repairing microwave equiptment for years just relax

It is very good you responded so quickly. You probably have toxic levels of radiation in you by now, so I would wrap yourself in aluminum foil (to protect others from your radiation emittance) and run (don't drive) down the street to your local doctors office. Tell them you have THO (toxic hazardous omission) and demand a neutralization shower immediatly. Make sure when you get home you take the microwave and bury it in the back yard, as that is the proper way to dispose of hazardous radiation emitting devices.
