What is it about the ACLU defending EVERYONE'S constitutional rights that you find so objectionable?

Most criticism I see about the ACLU is based its opposition to the government's establishment of religion or defenses of gays' rights. Why aren't there just as many complaints from liberals about the ACLU defending Jerry Falwell's religious liberty, or the rights of christian children to pass out religious materials during their own time at school? Why aren't there complaints about the ACLU defending the free speech of Fred Phelps or the KKK? It has done all of these things.

Do conservatives think the ACLU actually has a slanted political agenda, or do they have a VERY good understand the true agenda of the ACLU -- protecting liberty and justice for all -- and THAT'S what they really can't stand?

If you criticize the ACLU, please don't just say "The ACLU is against America," or something idiotic like that. Try to provide specific examples of the ACLU supporting the violation of someone's rights, or rejecting an opportunity to defend someone's constitutional rights.

Blue Steel & Lace: That website is a complete joke. It reads like a Washington Times article. The basic format of the page:

MYTH: The ACLU is good.

TRUTH: The ACLU isn't good; they're bad.

You make me sad.

Actually what I can't stand is that the ACLU gets paid whether they win or lose and the money is coming out of my pocket, and yours I might add. Do you think they would be so apt to take up the cause if they were not to get paid if they lost? I think not.

OK I hear ya! Now there is say 100 people who like seeing the cross in San Diego,There is one guy who is offended, aclu wants to take the cross down, So they would rather offend 100 people then offend 1 guy?? . We used to say a prayer and the Pledge every morning@ school, now the kids can't say a prayer but the muslim kids can take a 15 minute break and pray to their allah.
The aclu stops a church bell from being rung because its to close to peoples houses, muslims in Detroit have a LOUD prayer call 5 times a day, they are allowed!! You tell me whats wrong with these pictures. We don't live in iran, saudi arabia. We live in The United States of AMERICA, They want to become citizens, live in OUR country then THEY have to accept OUR way of life not us accepting their ways!
Why should gays have special rights, the want to be gay fine but they don't have to push it on us. You want to protect someone's life, how about protecting some of the 3500 babies being murdered everyday via abortion. Protect them the innocent!!!

The Aclu doesn't defend everyone's rights. It only defends the rights of pornographers to fill the public with porn. It also has in its goals the clear statement to abolish religious expression from American Public life. It also stands for everything that this nation is against basically.

Because they don't protect the right of Christians, there are seperate groups that protect Christian rights against the ACLU now.

They wish to violate the Chrsitain rights, they are the biggest threat to America, more than any terrorist group

The ACLU started off with good intentions, then it became corrupt, just like the environmentalist movement. Our "freedoms" are limited by people being offended according to the ACLU

Yes, I think they have a slanted agenda.

Americas Criminal Lovers Union has lost touch with reality. they are not about civil liberties for everyone, but only for those who break the law. most of their posturing is meant to stroke their own publicity seeking egos.
