My good friend passed away in a car a couple of months ago, and I didn't know her family that well. I knew her mom and that was it. I'm addressing it to the whole family. Does anyone know any good bible verse I could put in the Christmas card?

I know they are religious, and I knew her mother because we took dance together a couple of years ago and our moms took turns taking us.

I would use I Peter 5: 7 "Let Him have all your worries and cares, for He is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you." ( Paraphrased from The Living Bible) or Philippians 4 :7 "and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

The lord bless you and keep you
The lord shine their face upon you
and give you stregnth

(i may be like one word off but you can look it up on google)

ihave found that people without GOD and JESUS feel like there is an emptiness inside of them. Like if they get the cutest clothes, wear a miniskirt, get a boyfriend/girlfriend, ect, then they wont feel an emptiness anymore. And once you get those things, you dont fell the emptiness (or you dont think you do) for a short amount of time. Then the emptiness comes back. Only having GOD and JESUS in your heart will make that emptiness be filled.

I think, personally, it is in bad taste to quote the bible or any other text to a grieving family. If you do not know them, then you do not know their religious feelings.

They will be grateful if you tell them you are thinking of them and you miss your friend. I usually put some nice little anecdote about something nice or funny the deceased did to make them feel the person made an impact in her life and will be fondly remembered.

Good question.

I'm posting here links to a couple of versions of 1Corinthians 15, which talks about the future resurrection of the dead. Maybe you can find something good there.

52b For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. --from 1 Cor 15 (NIV)

Here's another:

Job 19:25-26 (NIV)
25 I know that my Redeemer lives,
and that in the end he will stand upon the earth.
26 And after my skin has been destroyed,
yet in my flesh I will see God.
