Here's a start...

Take a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle. Put a plus sign and a minus sign of top of each column. Write down all your positive assets under the PLUS column and write down all your negative attributes under the MINUS column. When you're done, it could take a while... you'll understand your disposition better. That is my suggestion on getting to know yourself better.

It's rather easy if you have FAITH. Words & Actions. Everyone knows Right & Wrong so everyone can stand up on their own 2 feet. Good things make you feel Good, wrong things make you feel bad. So everything starts from what you know and what you feel about yourself. If you believe in GOD its alot easier for you to SEE, To Hear, To Understand that everything starts with just being a nice person and liking the person you are. When you're young you learn all you can learn for everything in life has a PURPOSE. GOOD THINGS MAKE YOU STRONGER, BAD THINGS teach you to learn off your mistakes and better yet learn off the mistakes of others....In time you will develope the tools you have around your interest. Character is your greatest ASSET, FAITH YOUR FOUNDATION. Don't ever question yourself, don't ever doubt yourself, Learn, Develope and BE YOU and you'll never want to be anyone else. Keep the Good things get rid of the Bad things. Life is so much like everything you see and do everyday, whether its riding a bike, driving a car, football, sports, whatever, you listen, you watch, you learn, you prepare, you do. Respect, Appreciation, Honesty and Discipline = LOVE

Deepest possible perception.... way beyond the sensory levels, and within, is the key to knowing self....
quote:
http://www.tamilnation.org/sathyam/east/ramana/ramana.htm
From Paul Brunton's A Search in Secret India, published by Rider & Co., London:

Q: What exactly is this Self of which you speak? If what you say is true there must be another self in man.

Sri Ramana: Can a man be possessed of two identities, two selves? To understand this matter it is first necessary for a man to analyse himself. Because it has long been his habit to think as others think, he has never faced his 'I' in the true manner. He has not a correct picture of himself: he has too long identified himself with the body and the brain. Therefore I tell you to pursue this enquiry, 'Who am I?' You ask me to describe this true Self to you. What can be said? It is That out of which the sense of the personal 'I' arises and into which it will have to disappear.

Not with every one. Take example of Ramkrishna Parama Hamsa, Swamy Vivekaananda, Shirdi Sai Baba...or any great people like Gandhi, Subhash chandra bose, mother theresa....

They know what they are and they never thought they are weak. Only a common selfish people like us think so.

we too should atleast think of the ways they have followed. may be at one point of time, we atleast become some percentage of self known people list.

I think the person who said everyone is the same is insane...some people are extremely intellegent and have wonderful reasoning skills. Other people are not to bright at all...they have alot of special needs, completely genetic and not their fault at all. Both physically and mentally and they have to work much much harder to survive much less think like others.

If you really want to get to know yourself, get an education. It's the great emancipator. Find out what you enjoy doing the most and hone in on that area of expertise.

It's all about desire.

yeah good question but don't forget...everyone is the same. If this guy can do this, so can I. I'm big on that. In this world, it pays to be a self motivated person, reliable, and trustworthy.
