ok, first i want to state that i am using verizon DSL services for 3 years, the problem is: if you people are using DSL or Cable, probably when you turn on your computer, you are connected to the internet right? and what i mean is just at that moment your computer turns on, you are connected!!!, but mine is a different story, when i turn on my computer, i have to wait about more than1 minute for a dail-up thing to appear, and at the time i was connected. well, this is not a big problem since the speed is satisify until now i need to install a wireless router for my second PC, and a laptop, because when installing the router, there is a step ask to reset the network, so for you people, when they reset your network, you network just goes connected auto., but mine will not, after reset, it is not reconnected, so i can't install a router!!! i have called Tech. but they just can't give me a postive answer on the issue, and i am thinking is my modem too outdate or what? thanks for help!

depends with the brand of your modem and router.

1.) If your modem is a westell 2200, westell 6100, westell 327w, you need to make it bridge mode by calling (verizon tech support 8005676789), if its a westell wirespeed its already on bridge mode.. then get your verizon username and password from them. ...

2.) And then you need to configure your router. If you are (verizon) from the east your connection type is PPPOE, if you are from the west your connection type is DHCP.

2.) You need to call the router tech support tell them your connection type and your verizon username and password then they can configure it for you. Popular numbers are..
Linksys (800-326-7114) netgear (888-638-4327) dlink (877-453-5465).. good luck!

You need to configure your router to establish the PPPoE connection instead of initiating it from your PC. I can't believe that the tech support folks didn't catch that; it's a nearly universal requirement with DSL. Read your docs, they'll explain how to set it up.

Once that's done, remove the Enternet software from your machine as it's no longer needed. Or at least disable the dialup connection in the Internet Options, Connections tab.
