I'm a Red Sox fan but for many years I watched Piazza play at Shea because my son (a freak of nature in my family is a Mets fan). Piazza was great to watch but he had to move on, we wished him well.
I think he has a few good years at bat left in him, particularly as he is not catching. Don't want him helping the A's to much though just in case the Red Sox need that wild card....then again keep it out of Yankee hands lol

The A's got themselves a good hitting DH. Doubt if Piazza is going to catch that much anymore. His arm and knees are worn out. Yet he's still has a good batting eye and could clock at least 20 home runs a year. Plus since he won't be catching that much anymore, he's hitting should be even better. Catching takes a lot out of the player.

No, I think the A's are the ones who'll be helping Piazza by giving him all those millions. Piazza is old and over the hill. He sucks now.

At least Mike Piazza is a DH Now and he won't be affected by his catcher role.. and also the past DH's (Durazo & thomas) have been the factors of winningfor the A's.

three key points...

1) he's not barry bonds - let him and all the baggage associated with him stay over on the other side of the bay.

2) he can hit, not as good as Thomas, but good enough. near 400 homers. career 300 hitter. better career average than bonds but slightly lower OBP and SLG%

3) if it doesn't work out, only one year contract and he's done.

I hope he works out. Good player, has better speed that thomas did.
