I once did this cool little experiment with two yard sticks and two funnels stuck together. I put the two yardsticks at an incline in a V shape. The open V side is on the upper side of the incline. Then, you glue to funnels together at the large opening. Use large funnels - like the kind you would use for changing the oil in a car. For the incline, use 2 thick books. Once the funnels are stuck together, you put them at the closed end of the two yardsticks (the point) and watch the funnels travel up the yardsticks. Its pretty cool.

Also, you can do this one... try to figure the center of gravity for an odd figure. Draw any kind of figure that you want. Cut it out. You might want to make it out of card board or poster board. It can be a blob shape if you want it to be. Then you get a string with a heavy object. Pin the blob shape to the wall and the piece of string with the heavy object to an upper side of the shape. Trace with a pencil where the string is hanging. Then turn the shape and do the same thing. Do this with several turns of the shape. As you do this, you can see where the lines intersect - this is the center of gravity for the odd shape that you have drawn.

Hope this helps! I LOOOOOOVE science! :o)
